Maybe your stress is not that high, or maybe you are wildly stressed about just a few things. It falls out like this, if you are stressed while running from an angry bear, you're on the right track. If you are having an internal or external meltdown over a rude driver or that thing your spouse does every Sunday morning, you're probably not on the track you would like to be, and could use some stress management.
Because I'm not a therapist, unless you are here to work on issues with your father, I am not going to ask you, “How do you feel about your father?” We are not going to crawl through your life like we're looking for undigested kernels of corn.
We are going to use the very clear, logical, and strategic processes of neuro-linguistic programming to identify the pattern and we are going to train your system to run the new way automatically.
If you are stressed all the time for no good reason, what good does stress do you when you're running from a bear. If you are almost never stressed, it doesn't require a lot of stress to get you moving if the bear is coming your way.
We are adults. We are going to keep the child from getting into traffic.
We are wildly different people when we are stressed compared to when we are in a pleasant mood.
Either way, we will keep the child out of traffic.
“Hang on a second Andy…. This way kiddo.” We will keep the kid out of traffic whether we're stressed or not.
If you work with me, plan on getting rid of the chronic stress that is not helping you in any way. It's not personal, other than the fact that you are a person. Every single human being is dealing with this.
The lucky ones are only stressed when there's a good reason to be stressed. Some are even dealing with trauma, while the rest of us are dealing with some level or another of chronic stress that, when separated out, does not make any sense. Let's get down to business, shall we? .
